Your Nine Month Old Baby's Development [Video]

Video on Your Nine Month Old Baby's Development
Your nine month old baby develops a sense of self awareness and he realises that he is different from his parents. He recognises his primary caretakers and cries when you leave the room or in the company of strangers. You can ease this separation anxiety by telling him when you step out. Do not go out without telling him. This helps him learn what to expect from you. For some nine month olds, a cuddly blanket or toy serves as a comfort object. His babbles become more prominent and include two syllables and consonants. "Ma-ma" and "Da-da" are usually associated with the right person. He will engage himself in a variety of activities such as looking at books that you read out to him, taking objects from you and giving them back to you. He enjoys banging toys together, taking toys from containers and putting them back in. Your nine month old's fine motor skills increase greatly and he an pick up tiny objects. He may begin crawling - first on his stomach and slowly progresses on to his knees. He may even do away with crawling altogether. However at this stage, most nine month olds pull up to a standing position with support. Your baby may take his first steps at this stage.
