As a parent, you must encourage this without allowing your toddler to harm himself. This may result in conflicts with your toddler. If he shows a tantrum when you remove a harmful object from his hands, stay calm and do not give in to your toddler. Distract him from the harmful object or activity. Remember that he has no self control at this age. He is just beginning to respond to the limits set by you. Be calm, firm and consistent especially when safety is concerned.
