Your Eighteen Month Old's Development [Video]

Video on Your Eighteen Month Old's Development
Your eighteen month old enjoys imitating your gestures, speech patterns and activity. Her physical development takes place rapidly. Her walking turns into running and jumping. She may even kick a ball and try climbing furniture or playground equipment. Remember to supervise her activities to avoid her coming to harm. Communication with your eighteen month old toddler is easier at this stage as her language skills are more advanced. She understands more of what you say and can say four to ten words other than "Ma-ma" and "Da-da". She will mostly know her own name, and wave and tell you a Bye-Bye. She can point to body parts and mostly name them as well. You may even find your toddler using two-word phrases. Her fine motor skills improve and she is interested in puzzles and shape sorters. She can fit a circle or square into its cut out shape. She enjoys scribbling and colouring. At eighteen months, your toddler can draw zig-zags and circles. Do not be surprised if you find your toddler drawing on the wall which appears to her as a big colouring book!
