Tips for your Kids Party

  • Prepare a list of how many people you will be inviting. You must also make a note of the number of children who are expected to arrive. It is a good idea to celebrate the toddler's birthday with a limited number of people. Some parents prefer to celebrate the occasion as a family event.
  • When you have made an approximate head count, decide about the venue. Your home is a good idea if you are planning to invite only a limited number of people. However if you have a lot of them coming over, you can consider renting a hall. Most hotels have places which they are willing to let out for various events. Visit a few places before you decide on one.
  • Choose to invite parents along with their toddlers. This can make it easier to tackle tantrums if they arise.
  • Consider seeking help from your partner or other family members to organise the party. This can be helpful as they may be able to help you with something that you forget.
  • Invite people at least a week before your toddler's birthday. This helps to give them time to plan and also let you know about their convenience to join. Knowing how many guests will appear beforehand can help you to a great extent.
  • Conduct the party at a time when your toddler is cheerful and active. Do not opt for a time when your baby is sleepy or tired. Also, keeping the duration short is a good idea as long hours can drain your toddler of her energy.
  • Do not forget the birthday cake and the candles. If you are good at baking, this is a good chance to bring out your baking skills.
  • Do not miss out on the camera to take a few photographs of the special occasion for future memories.
  • Keep the toddler's birthday party menu simple. Sandwiches and slices of fruit are good choices for a menu. You can also have some fresh juice ready to be served as a beverage. Avoid food that can cause choking hazards to the toddler. Also, consider using spill-proof glasses or glasses with straws for the young toddlers.
  • You do not have to be extravagant in decorating the venue. Balloons and festoons are available in various shapes and colours that can make the area colourful. These are also relatively inexpensive. You can also decorate according to a theme that your toddler likes such as her favourite cartoon character.
  • Choose a dress that she will feel comfortable in. Avoid ones with a lot of buttons. For your little girl, a lot of laces can be a hindrance.
  • Try playing some mild music in the venue throughout the party. Most toddlers love responding to the music.
  • Serve only a little for each serving. Too much can confuse toddlers. It also prevents wastage of food.
  • Avoid having too many games for the toddler's birthday party. A lot of games can increase the toddlers' distraction and frustration. A couple of simple games are a good idea. Most toddlers enjoy games that involve a lot of dance like movements.
  • Check for simple and inexpensive return gifts that you can give the toddler's friends when they leave after the party.
  • It is a good idea to not allow your toddler to open her birthday gifts during the party. Other toddlers may become jealous that they are not given any gifts.
  • Always remember to thank your guests for coming to the party. Also thank the parents for the gifts on behalf of your toddler.
  • Keep first aid accessories ready in case you need them.
