Pregnancy Week 40 - Pregnancy Week by Week

Welcome to Pregnancy Week 40.

Changes to Mother During Pregnancy Week 40

Congratulations! You are in the final stage of your pregnancy life cycle. Most of you must be eagerly waiting for those signals of labour to set in. However for a few of you, your labour may not start till about a week or two later. This is especially true if this is your first delivery.

You may experience a bit of sickness and may feel tears coming out of your eyes. Most of you may have mild diarrhoea. All these symptoms are perfectly normal and indicate that labour is not far away!

Changes to Baby During Pregnancy Week 40

All organs in your baby's body are fully developed and he is ready to come out of your womb.

As soon as your baby is born, he may have a slightly misshapen head. Sometimes he may be covered with vernix and blood. His skin may exhibit discolourations, patches and rashes. His genitals appear big in size because of your hormones in his system. All these symptoms may leave you concerned but they are quite natural. Your baby's body and head return to normal within a few days.
