Pregnancy Week 29 - Pregnancy Week by Week

Welcome to Pregnancy Week 29.

Changes to Mother During Pregnancy Week 29

You will gain weight rapidly from this stage. Some of you may experience heart burns even if you have not experienced them before.

You must eat a number of small healthy meals. This helps in relief from heart burn and also ensures that your baby gets the vital nutrients for his growth. You must also drink a lot of water to prevent chances of constipation and haemorrhoids.

Your doctor may take a blood test to check that you do not suffer from anemia.

You may consider taking your maternity leave from this month. However most mothers prefer taking it at a later stage so that they can spend more time with their baby after birth.

If you have not discussed with a lactation consultant about helping you to adjust with breast feeding problems, you can do so now.

Changes to Baby During Pregnancy Week 29

Your baby looks more like a newborn at this stage. His body parts are more proportionate to each other. He establishes regular patterns for sleep and other activities. He gains more weight and starts moving sideways in your womb. His movements become more prominent. If you feel any abnormal movements or no movement at all, contact your doctor immediately. On an average, you should feel him kicking about ten times in an hour.
