Welcome to Pregnancy Week 24.
You may feel your womb becoming a bit cramped. You can still feel your baby kicking strongly but he does not move as freely as before. Most of his movements appear a bit more rhythmic which is quite normal. Some of you may experience heartburns because of the force that the growing uterus places on the digestive organs.
Your doctor may also take your weight to ensure that you are gaining the desired weight. Your doctor's visits will start getting more frequent from the seventh month onwards. Generally, visits are scheduled once every 2 weeks.
Your baby weighs about 630g now. The skin is characteristically wrinkled, and fat deposition begins. The head is still comparatively large, and eyebrows and eyelashes are usually recognizable. The canalicular period of lung development, during which the bronchi and bronchioles enlarge and alveolar ducts develop, is nearly completed.
His sweat glands begin to form at this stage. Creases begin to develop on his palms. His coordination improves and taste buds develop even more. The inner ear which controls the balance in the body is fully developed. He may start recognising voices from inside the womb.
