Welcome to Pregnancy Week 10.
The pregnancy hormone HCG is at the highest during this time and triggers morning sickness and other pregnancy symptoms to a very high level.Although referred to as morning sickness, this can take place any time.
A simple way to tackle morning sickness is to eat often but in little quantities. You must also avoid fatty meals. You can carry a healthy snack with you everywhere you go.
Some of you may suffer from hyperemesis causing you to vomit anything that you take. If you are not able to retain your intake including water, contact your doctor immediately. You may be required to get admitted in a hospital for a check up and to ensure that you are not dehydrated. Luckily, this situation improves slowly within the next two weeks.
One of the more surprising effects of pregnancy is the effect it can have on your eyes. Due to an increase in the thickness of the cornea you may find that your vision is blurry. You may also have trouble using contact lenses. If so, switch to glasses for the duration of your pregnancy.
You may be advised to take a blood test in the coming weeks to check if your baby is at risk of Downs Syndrome and neural tube defects. This test is called the Triple Screen. The Nuchal scan may also be performed. These are screening tests and based on the results you may have to take more tests like Amniocentosis and Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) to confirm the diagnosis. Your external abdominal examination is also carried out to verify the size and position of your baby. Your urine and breasts are also examined.
Do stay away from second hand smoke, toxins, and alcohol as they can harm your baby.
All the major body organs are formed by this time except for the lungs. By the end of this week, the fetus is about 3 cms long. Toes and toenails are now visible. The legs and the nasal openings are completely formed. The eyes and ears move towards their final position on the face. The tongue and the external genital organs are being formed as well. If the baby is a boy, his testes will start producing the male hormone testosterone. Your doctor also checks for your baby's heartbeat. You can hear this for the first time using a Doppler stethoscope.
I am happy to find this very useful for me, as it contains lot of information. I always prefer to read the quality content.Hcg
