Third trimester tests include the routine tests conducted at each prenatal visit urine test, uterine examination, blood pressure checking, weight checking and foetal heart beat checking.

Diagnostic tests like Amniocentesis and Chorionic Villus Sampling are done to confirm foetal abnormalities, after it has been found through screening tests

These tests are used to screen mothers for possible foetal abnormalities and assess the risk of them giving birth to a defective baby. These tests are offered to all pregnant women.

What does birth defect mean?

A Birth defect means that something has gone wrong with:

Throughout your pregnancy, at each of your visit to your obstetrician, you will have to undergo a urine test, blood pressure test, a weight check and a foetal heartbeat check.

Once your pregnancy test kit indicates a positive result, you should visit your obstetrician for confirmation of your pregnancy and some preliminary tests.
