I am in my first trimester and am suffering from disturbed sleep at night. I end up getting frequently in the middle of the night. Can anyone please tell me if this is normal and how I can try to sleep peacefully. I am a working woman and lack of sleep keeps me tired and unfocussed at work the next day.

I sleep on my left side. But sometimes when I wake up to go to the toilet, I find that I changed sides. That is not a problem. After you return from the toilet, you can once again reposition yourself on the left. Since I often have mild swelling in my feet, I keep them raised on a few pillows. Try this and let me know.

I guess sleeplessness is a common problem most of us have! I went through the same bouts of sleeplessness. This is what I did. I switched off the television about an hour before I went to bed and made sure that the room was quiet. Then I treated myself to a warm aromatherapy bath with a calming soap. (Lavendar worked for me and I bought them from Fab India.) Finally, I drank a warm health drink like Complan or Bournvita just before I went to sleep. It helped! Good Luck.
