Recently I found my child watching a horror movie. He seemed to be enjoying it. I was shocked to see this and feel that he should not watch such movies at this age. When I asked him, he told me that his grandmother was watching the movie and he sat down to watch it with her. Is it okay for him to watch such movies at this age?

I am sure you are aware of the famous case of the Kolkata boy who murdered his step mother and arranged her body parts on the dining table. When the judge asked him why he did this, he replied that he saw a Hindi movie in which a character was murdered in this style. Violence and horror have a devastating impact on young minds, so use the 'Parental Control' option on your TV to lock some channels with a secure password. Allow children to watch only useful, educational programmes.

You are right. He should not be allowed to see such movies at this tender age. They can play an adverse effect on his mind. Remember to monitor his TV watching closely. Occasionally he can be allowed to watch programmes on Animal planet and fun movies like Jungle Book.
