My baby girl is just over a year old. She is a very bubbly and active kid. However, she has still not started teething. Just one tooth has come out half way while the others are yet to come out. All her cousins and her elder brother had at least 2 to 4 fully developed teeth by the time they were a year old. Because of this problem, I am unable to give her any solid food. I mash and puree anything I give her. I am worried if this will provide enough nutrition. Please advise.
Hi! My baby had his first tooth when he was 15 months old. We asked the doctor about this problem when he was about 10 months old and were told that it is perfectly normal. It may also be because of genetics. But, that did not stop me from giving him solids when he was nearly 8 months old. I gave him a chappati soaked well in daal along with nicely mashed boiled vegetables. Just make sure that the chappati is soft for your baby's gums. It is surprising that the baby can chew well with his gums at this age. If you are giving her idli, you need not soak it. Just add a lot of ghee on it and he will enjoy it. You can also give her soft bits of non-crispy dosa with ghee. All the best in feeding her.
