The AHA! International Theatre for Children Fest '11 is scheduled for Jul 9 to Jul 17 in Bangalore.
Extraordinary schedule, even if we say it so! The most venerated Kathakali artiste of India (Sri Sadanam Balakrishnan) plays Hanuman while Leela Samson plays Sita in Lava-Kusha, to launch the festival. What more can Bangalore's children ask for?!
We have a fantastic Indo-Korean play (Heungbu-Nolbu) with four shows, Europe's renowned puppeteer Margrit Gysin performing "Mimmi and Brumm are having a party", and a troupe from Hannover, German doing a fantastic play combining visual arts, live music and theatre.
The most wonderful thing, perhaps, is the launch of "The Little Cloud", our story-telling performance. We have Stefo Nantsou, a famous Director, Writer and Actor for the young from Australia, Vayu Naidu of UK, Kapila Venu performing Koodiyattam, and our own Padmavati Rao performing stories for little ones over the week-end of Jul 16 and 17.
We are inviting children to perform platform shows -- classical music, rock bands, etc.
Several activities to bring/ keep children in the theatre are being planned too. The fest itself is being launched by a Painting Day that will bring hundreds of children to the theatre to paint "their idea of theatre".
